    Ubiquiti WiFi Access Points Installation

Of course, one major selling point of Wi-Fi is how it would enable you to roam your home or workplace while continuing to have reliable internet access at close hand. That’s the dream, anyway – as, in practice, Wi-Fi can too often be frustratingly slow or keep cutting out.

What’s the problem? Often, it’s because you are moving too far from the router, which might be doing all of the heavy lifting of providing your Wi-Fi access. Alternatively, too many devices could be connected to the network, straining its existing capacities as a result.

To resolve either of these problems, you can have us install a Wi-Fi access point – or perhaps more than one – in your property. Each access point will be a piece of hardware that acts as an additional portal for your local area network (LAN).

We can install various models of wireless access point (WAP) from the respected Ubiquiti brand. So, whether you want your Wi-Fi extended to cover just one more room, several floors of your building or something in-between, we can implement the most suitable Ubiquiti WAP for your needs.

Wired & Wireless Access Point Installers

You probably have a lot of devices – think desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones – all piggybacking on the Wi-Fi provided by your router. You might also have some of the online-reliant smart tech, like smart TVs, thermostats and so on, that has become popular in recent years.

However, you don’t have to just leave your router alone to do all of the work. We can set up a Wi-Fi access point and then use an Ethernet cable to connect it to your router, enabling its wired signal to be converted into a wireless one.

We can also help you to decide exactly where to place each wireless access point. From our vast experience of installing WAPs, we know how to strategically position them to minimise the extent to which obstructions like walls, doors and carpets could weaken your signal.

If you are particularly ambitious, you could opt for a mesh Wi-Fi network. This can be built around both wireless and hard-wired systems, and distribute your Wi-Fi signal so evenly that people will be able to walk throughout your building without encountering any interruption in their signal strength.

    WiFi Access Points Installation FAQ’s

These would be “quick fixes” that, well, are unlikely to actually fix much. A booster works by fetching a signal from the router before casting that signal further. In its redistributed form, though, this signal could end up only half as strong as it was before.

In contrast, a WAP’s signal will be just as strong as the router’s. You can also be more flexible with where you put a Wi-Fi access point – we can even entirely redesign your Wi-Fi system to ensure it make especially good use of WAPs.

Chances are that, if any particular device you have can connect to the internet via Wi-Fi, that device is also compatible with our Wi-Fi access points, which can be used with:

    • Desktop and laptop computers, tablets and smartphones
    • Smart TV sets running streaming apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video
    • Smart audio systems such as Sonos
    • Smart security systems including CCTV and alarms

Whatever Wi-Fi-ready devices you have, we can take those into account when we hold a free consultation with you.

Essentially, any in the UK that could practically benefit from them! You could see sense in adding WAPs if you have workers who must often move quickly around the premises without losing their access to reliable Wi-Fi, or you would like to offer guest Wi-Fi to customers or clients on-site.

Examples of workplaces where we can set up WAPs include but are certainly not limited to:

    • Libraries
    • Cafes, coffee shops and restaurants
    • Dental practices
    • Repair garages

We could install them just about anywhere at your home or workplace – though, of course, “could” is not quite the same as “should”. This is why we urge you to book a site survey that would let us discern the optimal places to install your wireless access points. These places could include:

    • Walls
    • Ceilings
    • Outdoor areas, such as gardens

The Ubiquiti WAPs we are capable of installing include units designed to look inconspicuous once secured to walls and ceilings.

Fortunately not, as each Wi-Fi access point would be hard-wired back to your modem, with the same credentials being used to configure the two pieces of hardware. Those credentials could then be used again for configuring further WAPs added to your network.

As a result, once all of these access points are up and running, the Wi-Fi-enabled devices you use can automatically switch between these points depending on which of them is physically the closest to the device at that particular time.

Where our Wi-Fi access points come into their own is in allowing our clients to freely move around their properties with their devices without sacrificing online connectivity or its speed.

However, the trade-off is that this speed wouldn’t be quite as strong as what you could get with a hard-wired solution, such as structured data cabling or fibre optic cabling.

Therefore, where possible and practical, you should prioritise physical wiring for hardware you would expect to stay largely immobile, like large PCs and smart surround sound systems.
